Guideline: coloring eyebrows yourself
Eyebrows have a significant effect on the face. They are called the “frame of the face” for a reason. Full and thick eyebrows add expression and contour to a face. Not everyone is lucky enough to have them that way. Therefore, you should not hesitate to give nature a helping hand by coloring your eyebrows. We explain, step by step, how to dye eyebrows at home easily and in a short time (maximum 20 minutes).

What do I need to color my eyebrows myself?
- Application sticks: in our store, you’ll find a selection of application sticks for easy color application. You can also use cotton swabs to do it.
A small container for mixing the color: available in our store individually or directly as a set with applicator sticks.
- Color and developer: we offer a wide range of colors from RefectoCil and Schwarzkopf Professional. RefectoCil offers you the choice between a cream developer and a liquid developer.
- Skin protection: to avoid color stains on the skin, you should apply a skin protection cream around the eyebrows. We recommend RefectoCil’s nourishing skin protection cream. Vaseline can also be used.
- Color remover: if color stains remain on your skin after coloring and cannot be removed with water, RefectoCil’s gentle color remover will help.
- Brow brush: for a clean and thorough application of color.
- A timer: to stop the application time required.
How do I choose the optimal shade?
The optimal shade for a natural look should always be about 2 shades darker than your hair but also appropriate for your skin type. For fair hair and skin, we do not recommend using a darker shade.
Eyebrow dye tutorial: Step-by-step instructions for eyebrows coloring
Step 1: Clean
Clean your eyebrows of grease, dirt, and makeup. For best color results, eyebrow hairs should be clean and dry. Brush them into shape.
Step 2: Skin protection
Apply a skin protection cream around your eyebrows to prevent color staining. Be sure not to get any cream on the hairs or they won’t be able to absorb the color.
Step 3: Blend the color
Mix the eyebrow color with the developer in the container provided. Follow the mixing ratio given by the manufacturer which is usually indicated on the package or instructions.
Tip: The color starts to develop after mixing. In order for it not to lose its effect, you must start applying immediately.
Step 4: Apply
Generously apply the mixed color to the eyebrows. Make sure that every hair is covered with color. To avoid color smudging on the skin, apply color only to the eyebrows if possible.
Step 5: Application time
Depending on the desired intensity and the manufacturer’s instructions, the eyebrow color can be left on for up to 10 minutes. If you have fair skin and hair, you should not leave the color on for too long. Otherwise, the result may be too dark.
Step 6: Wash the color off
Wipe the color off your eyebrows with a damp cotton ball. If there are any color stains left on the skin that cannot be removed with water you can use a color remover.
Notes:
Eyebrow color can cause allergic reactions. To be safe, you can perform a skin compatibility test before the first application. To avoid skin irritation, we recommend that you don’t pluck your eyebrows directly before tinting.
